So, the remains of Richard III have been discovered beneath a car park in Leicester. My inner historian is absolutely fascinated. That corpse is five centuries old and they managed to find it and make a positive ID: the last English sovereign to die in battle. Makes me want to study that period all over again!

Date: 2013-02-04 08:23 pm (UTC)It's wonderful that they were able to get a positive ID, and that they have already been able to bring new details to light, like the fact that Richard died of his wounds after the battle instead of a direct killing blow during it...fascinating stuff! This is such a fascinating time indeed...if you are looking for some good TV to watch about the period, I think the BBC miniseries about Henry VII/the War of the Roses, "The Shadow of the Tower" or something, is out on DVD now and is supposedly decent...
