I just saw a lad having a full blown grand mal seizure in the middle of the queue for the checkout in Boots. Seriously. He just went completely rigid, as if all his bones and muscles had turned to stone, and then started to tilt quite alarmingly. The chap in front and woman behind both grabbed him and lowered him to the ground, and the moment he was horizontal he started fitting. God, the poor guy. It looked awful - especially because it was so very public, with cashiers running to help/get help, and customers standing around gawking. I kept walking rather than join the gawkers, so didn't see the final outcome or how bad it got. I hope he's okay.

How awful for him.

When I worked in a supermarket, a customer went into diabetic shock. That was pretty public too.

It's a really scary thing to witness, especially if you haven't seen one before. *Hugs*, even though the guy probably needs them more than you do! :)

Being married to an epileptic ... I have had experience ... thankfully he has been fit free for 10 years now.

What you described is what happened to Dixie too.

All you can do is to make the area as safe as possible for them ... i.e. so they don't fall and hurt themselves. As people were already helping you did right in walking way, it is embarrassing.

I hovered for a second, until it was clear that there were plenty of people to help, and then left because it seemed rude to just stand and stare. Bad enough to have the seizure, without a massive audience as well.

So glad to hear that people helped rather than stood around looking worried - and well done you for not adding to that...

I once fainted in a big (and stiflingly hot and I'd just given blood) university library, right in the busiest part - by the counters. I came to realising that I was splayed out flat on my back, my arms thrown out as far as they could to either side, a sort of crucifix, taking up as much space as I possibly could. Definitely embarrassing - though on the bright side the librarians had just told me I had a £30+ fine, and instead of making me pay it they took me downstairs and gave me orange juice and a biscuit... *g*

*hugs*

I would've done the same thing. If I can't be helpful in a situation, I don't want to be a gawker. I'm glad there were people who were there to actually help him.

Poor bloke. I would have walked on the same as you once I'd seen that people were helping. There's no need to gawp.

Crap, the poor guy :( I hope he's okay now. Gawking? Why? The poor guy was having a seizure - it's not bloody entertainment!
