I'm very tired. Some idiot kept trying to phone and text me in the middle of the night last night - wouldn't believe me when I insisted he had the wrong number. Had to turn my phone off in the end, and had a load of messages again this morning when I turned it back on. Idiot. Had to get up, though, because it's the last Sunday School of the session this morning - have to help the kiddies rehearse their play ready for prizegiving tonight.

Maybe next weekend I'll just not get out of bed. Sounds good to me!

Had a good day yesterday. Ferdy-m, who some people on my f-list know, was in town for a James Marsters gig, and we spent the day in Cardiff Bay seeing the sights. Took the waterbus across the Bay to the Barrage, where I inevitably become completely entranced by the sea locks in operation.

Oh, but Aissy, who some of my f-list also know, was meant to be joining us, along with her partner. They set off from Nottingham early afternoon on Friday...and spent the next 21 hours or more in their car! Got completely trapped in all that flooding in the midlands, spent the night in the car on the side of the road in Gloucester, and then spent more hours trying to get back home. I feel so bad for them that they had such an awful weekend, and never made it to the gig. Luckily they seemed to be in good spirits, regardless - the only way to deal with that kind of situation!

The gig was excellent. I'm not really a James Marsters fan - was probably one of only a handful of non-squealing fangirls in the room - but he is a really good performer. The warm-up act, Dan Accio (sp?) was also good, and the surprise of the night was when Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto from Torchwood) came onstage to sing, with James as his backing guitar. Has a surprisingly good voice!

Will post pics later, or possibly tomorrow - got a busy day ahead.

In other news, the world has been overtaken by Harry Potter mania. Now, I was meant to be having the book delivered yesterday, although I wasn't sure when I'd get to read it, having a busy day planned and also not being as eager as most people seem to be. I mean, I enjoy the books and want to see how it ends, but I'm in no rush. But my postman has scuppered me anyway. When I went to leave the house yesterday morning I found a card pushed through the door - 'tried to deliver your copy of Harry Potter at 7.50, but it's too big for the box, please collect from the sorting depot in 48 hours.'

I was in my house at 7.50am yesterday morning, and out of bed. He didn't even bother pressing the bell! Just put the card through the door! And this postman is never around before 8am anyway. I wasn't worried about the book, not planning to read it this weekend anyway, but I am very indignant about the postman's cavalier behaviour. I have so many issues with the post office anyway, this is just adding fuel to the fire.

Cursed Dean! Drunk dialing you again! Someone has to get that boy off of the djinn or gin! LOL *hugs* Sorry about the rough night of sleep!

Glad you had a great time at the concert, sounds like a good time! As usual, I look forward to your pics!

ROFL I wish it had been Dean! I might not mind the disturbed sleep quite so much...

The gig was really good, I'm glad I went, and I had a good day with Ferdy, too. I just wish that Aissy and her partner had been able to make it as planned.

You know, it could have been Chris disguising herself. She WAS up to 4:30 am her time for some mysterious reason! Things are all falling into place. LOL! I'm one to talk, it's after 2 here!

I bet! That actually seems pretty scary that they got caught in their car with all the flooding. At least they made it home safely and took the entire weekend with good humor. I know I'd been pretty disappointed to have made plans like that and been prevented from making it.

Some Postmen!! You'd think he could have at least rung the bell for you. Have had the same here, but our letterboxes are at the front gate, which is easily opened, but no, just a card in the letterbox saying 'Unable to Deliver. Collect from Post Office' even though front door and all windows were open so he knew someone was home. Too lazy to get off his motobike. At least I only had to wait until the next day to go collect my parcel.

Postmen are the pits sometimes. Mine usually communicates with me via these little notes, but that's because he usually comes after 11am, and I leave for work shortly after 8. So I'm very miffed that the one time he came before 8am he didn't even try ringing the doorbell!

That postman of yours is so thick! Hope you sort them out.

I've had exactly the same thing happen to me with the post on several occasions. Once I actually saw the card plop through the letterbox so I chased after the postie and guess what? He didn't even have the package with him! My theory is that they can't be bothered to carry large packages around with them so they just stick a card through the door and leave it to you to go and pick it up from the sorting office. And it's always "48 hours" now isn't it, which is really frustrating!

Hee, I'm one of your f-list people who knows ferdy! Glad you had a good time at the gig - I'm not a big James Marsters fan either, but it must have been cool to see him perform.

I think locks are completely fascinating too. I've never seen sea-locks though, only canal ones.

Postmen never seem to bother to ring. How lazy are they?

Postmen are stupid. I think I'm most cross about the fact that it was before 8am that he pushed the card through the door - he never comes before 11am ordinarily, which is why I'm never usually at home when he makes his delivery. The one day he's got a parcel and delivers it before I've left the house, he doesn't bother ringing...

The sea locks are absolutely fascinating. To me, anyway. I will probably bore everyone rigid tomorrow when I post my picspam of the day!

Where I live I have to go to the post office for my mail (I have a box there) but I usually go after midnight. When my Buff comics would come, they'd leave a note asking me to retrieve it from the office. I couldn't understand this seeing as how there are 100 large parcel boxes surrounding my box. So I left them a note asking them to put this and any future packages in a parcel box. They did so and the next time my Blockbuster dvds came (which are the size of a normal letter envelope) they put the dvds in the parcel box as well. Sometimes I think they do these things on purpose just to annoy us.

And pics of the gig please!! I have to live vicariously through you!

Piccies tomorrow - haven't stopped for five minutes today!

Postal service seems to be universally rubbish.

Sounds like you had a good time at the gig, I'm not a huge fan of James either, but it must've been great to see him play... even better with another fan in tow! But those floods seem to have disrupted so many people's weekends! Everyone I know seems to have finished the book already, while I'm only a few chapters in, glad I'm not the only one who's not rushing through it! Looking forward to seeing the pics :)
