Deb was having a procedure done on her back today - she was put on the waiting list about three years ago, and totally forgot. And then recently she was summoned for it. It involves a morphine injection into the spine that should give her eight months of pain relief. Her back has been pretty stable lately - since the wedding two years ago, in fact - but she thought she'd take the treatment while it's on offer. Went okay, apparently, except that they found that her back is in worse condition than they thought. Not just the joints crumbling, but the discs as well. She's now on the waiting list to have an urgent MRI to assess just how bad it is.
Apparently, her blood pressure became dangerously high as well. But Deb thinks that's because of stress. Not just everything that happened with the adoption lately. Yesterday, apparently, a parent came to the school to collect their child and went into premature labour. Deb is the first aider, and had to deliver the baby, born within just ten minutes, and it was stillborn. She tried to rescusitate it but there was nothing that could be done. :(
Only my sister. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. If anything like that is going to happen, it happens to Deb. She is unbelievable.
So, she's had this procedure, and was allowed to go home when her blood pressure went down, but only if Ray stayed with her, so he's had to leave work early. On the bright side, the consultant said that although her back is worse than he thought last time he saw her, it shouldn't stop them adopting. And he was perfectly happy with her weight - she's large, but not obese, he says. Again, no reason not to adopt. That blasted medical panel don't know what they are talking about.
They are appealing. I'm going to write a letter of complaint.
Madness.
