My office looks like a bomb hit it. It really does. It is such a sad thing.
Volunteer Rosslyne and I spent most of yesterday afternoon emptying out everything damp from that store cupboard that got flooded the previous day. We had to throw out a fair bit of stuff that wasn't salvageable, but luckily nothing important/irreplaceable was affected. I now have damp display boards, books and other random clutter lying all around the place, drying out.
And the best bit? Once everything is dry, I'll have to put it all away again. Such joy.
Had a good moan about everything that's been going on lately with my friend Molly last night. Told her all about Deb and that stuff - should have phoned, really, when it all happened because I knew she was concerned, but couldn't quite face the conversation while it was all so fresh. It's easier face to face. And she updated me on all her stuff - new photos of baby Joseph, who has got the most gorgeous blond hair and it is getting quite long now, so hopefully he'll actually be able to keep it this time, depending on his chemo regimen. Kerry is starting her chemo probably next week, which is quite early - they usually prefer to give more time for post-surgery healing, but didn't want to waste any time, which is a little worrying. Moll has been running around a lot helping her get prepared, as she won't be up to much when the treatment starts. It remains to be seen how the boys cope with it - they are doing well so far.
Then I had to go home earlier than usual after a frantic text from my friend Jane, who lives next door. Could she come and look something up on my computer, urgently, because she thought she'd accidentally eaten wheat, and is allergic. She's on a strict gluten-free diet because of this intolerance, and buys soya milk drinks, has done for so long she's comfortable with them, knows they are safe. Then last night, after taking a mouthful of one, she noticed to her horror that the ingredients have been changed to include wheat syrup. And she panicked because although she'd only had a mouthful of that one, she'd drunk others (different flavours) in work earlier and was worried that they'd also had their ingredients changed. So she came around and looked them up online, and was relieved that those ingredients haven't changed and that she wasn't dying.
Stupid people changing their ingredients anyway.
Hoping for a quieter night tonight.
