Today I went for a hike up Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, and then on the way down strolled across the ridge to Corn Du, the second highest peak in South Wales, and while standing on Corn Du enjoying the view, I got buzzed by a glider

You know, as you do

This picture was taken on the path down, looking back to Corn Du with Pen y Fan just beyond.

Wow, that glider was pretty close! Ah, I would love to try gliding someday. Very nice pictures, it always looks like there ought to be trees or shrubbery or something somewhere but it's so open and lovely too.

The glider was so close! We sat for about half an hour watching him circling on the thermals, trying to build up height - and then suddenly there he was, almost on top of us!

There's not much scrub up at that altitude, no - plenty down on the lower slopes, but it just doesn't grow higher up, the summit of Pen y Fan is 886m above sea level. Gorgeous view from up there.
