llywelaI just heard that my Aunty Ivy died - my great-aunt, that is. She was my granddad's oldest sister - 93 years old and riddled with dementia these last few years, bless her heart, but a real powerhouse in her day, the oldest daughter in a family of 10 children - clockwise from left that's Stanley, Kenneth, Cyril, Ivy, Robert, my granddad Arthur, Philip, Marjorie, Georgie and Marion with their parents Alf and Edith
Bobby was killed in the war and Philip also died young, but in 1993 eight of the ten siblings were still alive - this photo taken at a family gathering captures the last time they were all together in one place - here's my granddad Arthur with Stan, Ken, Ivy, Georgie and Cyril with Marion and Marjorie in front.
Now Auntie Mai, the youngest sister, is the only one left. She'll be crushed - it's less than four months since we lost Marj.

Date: 2013-04-11 08:27 pm (UTC)I love that photo of the family in 1937/8 or whenever it was taken - I got that from Cyril at Ivy's 80th birthday bash, he came down from London with a stack of copies and handed them out to all the family until they ran out. There was something stupid like 90 people there that day, all family! \O/
