llywelaI had my Small Sis around for the evening last night and we decided to take a wander down the road to the shop to pick up some bits and pieces. But while we were out, we came across a dying squirrel lying at the side of the road, having been hit by a car. Poor little thing, I'd seen it in my garden a couple of days earlier and wondered what it was doing so far from home. So our evening took a very unexpected detour because we couldn't just leave the poor thing lying there all alone, prey to whatever else came along. So we took it home and tended it until it finally died of its injuries - and then held a small funeral service for it in the garden!

Kudos for you for tending the little thing until it died.
My cat Tommy was hit by a scooter 3 years ago.. They told me he probably died immediately cause it was a hard hit.. I just pretend that it's true, can't bear the thought of him having suffered longer :(
In Thailand 2 months ago, we saw a poor pigeon who was injured and just sitting there, waiting to die. It was really sad :( But I couldn't do anything for it either, it still haunts me, but I didn't know what to do and didn't dare to take it out of its misery either...
