Okay, so tonight is the first evening I've had to myself since this time last week and I decided to celebrate by having a nice, hot, lazy soak in the bath. So I'm relaxing in the bath with a book - and I'm having a classic Doctor Who binge at the moment, so the book I happen to be reading tonight is the novelisation of the Fifth Doctor story Earthshock. And I've just got to the bit where the Doctor and Tegan leave Adric behind on the doomed freighter that's about to crash into Earth (not by their choice, I should add) and they are just saying their final goodbyes...and all of a sudden the light goes out. Dead bulb. Tallk about timing! And, you know, it's winter, so it's pitchy dark without the light, so I have to hop out of the bath (into the cold evening air) and dash downstairs to grab an armful of candles so I can see what I'm doing and finish my book...

...nice, hot, lazy, relaxing soak in the bath by candlelight...okay, so maybe that should have been the plan all along!

In other news, I came home from work tonight and was rather alarmed, upon opening the front door, to hear voices. These voices turned out to be coming from the TV. Which was definitely turned off when I left for work this morning - I hadn't even turned it on. I suspect one of the cats must have trodden on the remote at some point during the day!

That would have made your heart skip a beat or two.

I wonder what they watched (raflol).

Silly cats enjoying daytime telly...

Yikes, that would have been scary for a minute or two - especially after the burglar. Although I can't imagine any burgler settling down in front of the television with a cuppa :)
It's lovely to now be able to imagine your house and the cats when you mention them.

Maybe I should avoid leaving the remote where they can stand on it in future...

I rather doubt you're into the Transformers but I'm afraid I have to point you at Joules' latest series of fanfic:

Are you really sure it was the cats...? :)

Everything I know about Transformers I learned from the cartoon version my brother and I used to watch as kids...

Mwahahahahahah! Oh, that's brilliant!

I suspect I know even less about Transformers than you do, but Joules does have a lovely light touch which makes it unnecessary to know more than the basics :)

The off switch is probably hidden somewhere on the side of the TV - I remember having a similar search for the one on Sue's new set last year. Heavens knows why they make them so hard to find though... :)

Eeeep for lights going out when you're reading in the bath, and reading that, and for coming home to hear voices too! That'll teach you to leave the telly on standby all day... *g*

This stupid new telly doesn't have an off button to press! I looked! I'd have to turn it off at the plug to avoid standby.

But yes, eep indeed. It was very much an evening of eep! Talk about timing. The bulb was flickering for a couple of minutes before it went, but carefully waited until the timing was just right before it actually popped! I swear it knew. *G*
