Two of my great-great-granddads, the only ones I have documentary evidence for dating to WWI - one came home to his wife and son, the other did not; he died of his wounds just after the war ended, leaving his wife to raise their nine children alone.
RIP your great-great-grandad...how old was he? I'm so jealous of you having all this documentary evidence dating that far back, it's super cool! :) The one who died is the one who is commemorated in that memorial in that park we saw, right?
He was 37 - and yes, he's the one whose memorial we saw. Good memory!
We've only got the documentary evidence for some branches of the family, I'd love to have more but what we've got is pretty cool and I'm really glad to have it. :)
