Holiday picspam the second!
Okay, so on day two of our week together,
galathea_snb,
nikkimisplaced and I took the Small One with us for a trip up to the Brecon Beacons mountain range in Powys. Our first stop along the road was a brief pitstop at the Beacons Reservoir, just because - pretty!

We then headed on to the waterfall my family has always been so fond of at Craig Cerrig-gleisiad (I believe it is called), just beyond the Storey Arms Outdoor Education Centre. I've posted pictures taken at this spot before, but I'm going to post more now, because, again - pretty!

We climbed up

And up

And up

And up

Following the course of the waterfall as it trickles its way back downhill

The view across the valley is stunning from way up there

And then, having climbed all the way up, we were faced with the long scramble back down in search of food, which we eventually found at a rather lovely little inn on the road to Sennybridge.
Our next stop was the pretty little market town of Brecon, where we had a quick glance at the castle

And a look around the cathedral

Before heading off in search of another mountain to climb. This time we parked at Storey Arms for a clamber on the hillside directly opposite, Craig-y-Fro, I believe it is called. We found another stream whose path we could follow up the hillside

And more pretty, pretty views

Plus rather a lot of sheep

We managed to wear the Small One out completely, to the point where she gave up on the climb and curled up on the grass to go to sleep!

But she did wake up long enough to take a nice photo of the three of us together

And that was day two of Chris and Nikki's visit - I'll be back soon with the next instalment!

Ahh, that picture made me smile. Taking a nap in a wide-open field on the side of a hill sounds wonderful. You picked Small back up on your way down from the hill, yes? ;)

Date: 2011-08-17 08:01 pm (UTC)Heee! Tempting though it was to leave her there, I suspect my mother might have had something to say about it if we hadn't taken her home again! *G*
Just wait until T is old enough to start taking on proper outings - you'll have so much fun! You shouldn't envy us the week of eating out too much, though, 'cause it isn't good for the waistline...*G*

Date: 2011-08-19 07:17 pm (UTC)*nods* Right now that seems a long way off and separated by the dreaded "terrible twos". But, yes, I look forward to the day we'll be able to go to a place where I won't have carry her or strap her into her stroller or to worry about her darting off to get into some sort of disaster when she is put down on her own two feet.
