1. Spent most of last week on a managerial level health and safety course. I am now qualified to manage safely. There was a test at the end of the course which included a physics question that absolutely was not covered by the course material. I felt this was a little unfair, but also think I managed to get it right anyway, so was not too bothered.

2. Post-course, I had a day off work yesterday and took my mum to the RHS Flower Show, Cardiff. It was an absolutely glorious day - hot and bright and sunny. We both spent far too much money, but it was so worth it. I bought three little fuchsias, two aquilegias, a fritillaria, a hellebore, a Welsh poppy, a clematis and a very funky little acer. Then I spent this afternoon busily potting them out, and they now all look absolutely fab in situ in my garden.

3. Also this week, I got around to watching Mad Dogs, which was on Sky One recently - a four part mini-series starring John Simm, Phil Glenister, Marc Warren and Max Beesley. And my, what a dark little boy's own story it was! I think my favourite bit was when they all got dressed up in camo and tribal war paint and John Simm put on a horned mask and they all went storming off in fear and paranoia to confront the enemy at the gate - great fun! It was also rather an interesting look at what friendship really means and just how well we do or don't know the people we consider our friends but rarely actually see or spend time with, and the bonds that can still tie a friendship group together even after they have long since drifted apart.

Ooh a new work with the fabulous John Simm? Sounds intriguing, lol...I still need to finish Life on Mars though! *sigh* Summer project I guess...

Aye, a new work with the fabulous John Simm - and the rest of the cast isn't too shabby, either. *G* Only four episodes, too, which is very manageable.

1. I hate it when that happens on exams. Physics on a H&S exam? Did it have to do with lifting heavy objects?

2. Ahh, flowers. It seems like spring has sprung here, too. Pollen is everywhere and the flowers are out. I don't think we'll be planting anything this year, so I'll have to live vicariously through your garden. ;)

3. My TV watching has gotten so dire that I started surfing hulu for shows. I started "White Collar" and "Buffy". I'm not sure how long I'll stick either or both out but they provided a couple of hours of entertainment last week.

It was about fire - well, tangentially. And fire safety falls under the banner of health and safety. What are the three means by which heat spreads? Radiation, convection and conduction. Except that I couldn't remember the word convection in the test, but what the heck. I wasn't expecting physics!

Pollen is pretty high here at the moment - we've had Mediterranean temperatures the last couple of days, although that can't last long, but the pollen count has risen with it. I keep forgetting to take antihistamine and then wonder why my eyes are itching... I'm very happy with my new plants. Have a lot more chopping to do in the garden, though - my spring prune is taking place in stages this year! Your garden is still pretty new to you, isn't it - I can imagine you have your hands full without trying to tend to it this year!

I'm very fond of Buffy, although haven't sat and watched it right through in years. Well, I'm a long-standing moderator on a Buffy forum, which is a fact that tells its own story! But yeah, it is a very fun show, if you hook into the characters and the spirit of the thing, although of course everyone's mileage varies. I've been very inclined to try out new shows lately and mix things up a little instead of just obsessing over one thing, but most of the shows I watch are British rather than US, so not much point me recommending them to you as you won't have access to them!

A did plant a larger vegetable garden a couple of years ago, but we had to leave all of that behind when we moved. We don't have the space and finding a community garden has been low on the priority list. We always kept potted flowers and herbs, but we're holding off this year. I think a lot has to do with not quite knowing that the growing season is here (it's already FULL SPRING!) and what may or may not grow properly and if anything I plant in pots on the porch are going to get fried come late June when the temps get insane. Of course, we could be proactive and find all this out, but I think we're just going to lay low and focus on other things for now.

So I've heard. :) A good friend of mine has been trying to get me to watch Buffy for years. We'll see how far I get. :)

Well done on getting that random question right. Bit mean of them to add one in that hasn't been covered.

Glad you had a nice day out with your mum at the flower show :D Sounds like a lovely day for it! You might have to photograph your garden to see how they're all looking ;)

Ooh, was that an invitation to spam you with flower pics? *G*

My hands are full of splinters this morning. And I sliced a finger open with the secateurs. Forgot to put my thick gardening gloves on till it was too late! But it was so worth it for the pretty. :)

You bet it is ;) Have to live vicariously, since all things flower makes my nose hate me.

Oh ouch! Your poor hands. They'll need a break after that, hope they're healed up soon!
