Mar. 3rd, 2011 06:15 pmSo I'm walking home from work this evening, laden with shopping bags, minding my own business, when a pair of cars smash into each other right in front of me. It was a very loud bang. Lots of smoke and leaking fuel. The drivers of said cars promptly jumped out of their vehicles and started yelling at one another, but there was a girl sat in the passenger seat of one of the cars and she looked pretty dazed, so I went over to see if she was all right and phoned for an ambulance. She was able to get out of the car by herself and was walking and talking okay, but her leg was bleeding and she was very shaken, so I sat her down and waited with her until the paramedic arrived, since her boyfriend was too busy working off the adrenaline of it all by pacing around ranting. The other bloke - whose miscalculation caused the accident in the first place (he was trying to turn a corner but misjudged the speed of oncoming traffic) - was very quiet and subdued. When the ambulance arrived I had to round all three of them up to be assessed, as they were all far too shocked to sort themselves out.
Also had to give my name and number as a contact, so am now hoping I don't get called on as a witness or anything!
Then I got home to find an invoice from the vet for Macavity's treatment last month, which I am not supposed to be having to pay for because the RSPCA picked up the tab, so had to phone them for a therapeutic rant. It isn't that I would mind paying for his treatment - I offered to do so on the day - but having been told that the bill was covered, I resent being chased for the money as if I'd defaulted on payment or something. This is twice now - I've already had to phone them and complain once, and was assured that it was all sorted out now, but clearly the accounts department still hasn't got the message. Grr.
In other news, work is absolutely manic and looks set to stay that way for the foreseeable future. I'm a lot more efficient when I'm busy, but am exhausted already!

Date: 2011-03-04 01:25 pm (UTC)Commiserations on the manic work side, I know just how you feel! By Friday evening, I am usually so shattered I don't want to do much over the weekend these days. Still, spring is on the way, I hope!
