system failure imminent

My harddrive is about to die a flamey death, so I am in consultation with Brother Mine to replace it asap, preferably with the minimum of fuss/expenditure/complication and the maximum of increased capacity. Fingers crossed this process runs smoothly.

Ah, poor you! I know the feeling, just had to exchange my HD as well. Luckily I was able to just clone my old HD, so I was spared the hassle to set up the computer anew. But hey, more space, faster access, less noise - something to look forward to. :)

Yeah, mine has been slowly dying for a long time now, and then Saturday night it went really loopy, so I got Simon to come and take a look Sunday afternoon, and we've decided to replace it now rather than wait for it to die completely. Just a question of shopping around for a good deal and then getting the work done - I think Simon is hoping to clone the old drive across to avoid having to reinstall everything, but...well, we'll see if it works or not!

I know, it's all unnerving when the computer goes down - hopefully when this work is completed, that'll be the end of the regular and repeated crashes I've had going on lately.

I hope the change over process with go smoothly. And although it can be a tedious process with moving all your files onto the newwie, the end result of a faster machine is always worth it!
