Okay, so that would explain why I didn't get any post today. The post office burned down.

Or...okay, not quite down. But it did burn quite impressively! And thus we have no post. Let us hope nothing important is damaged or lost.

Glad no one was hurt! Fingers crossed nothing important was lost.

Is it bad that my first reaction wasn't 'I hope no one was hurt' but 'I hope none of my bills or interview letters got burned'...?

WOW ! They were so lucky the whole building did not go up ... all that paper ... good fuel for a fire.

Thankfully no-one was hurt. Still scarey.

Lots of yikes, huh. I'm just hoping no important letters were destroyed or damaged, and that we get deliveries again soon.

Yes, hopefully they will be able to operate still.

A bomb was my first thought, which is natural in these times.

Wow, what the heck do you do when that happens? It's not like they keep a list of what got mailed today!

Exactly!! My first thought when I heard about it was 'oh noes! What about my mail???' When of course I should have been concerned about the sorting office staff, not least because I have an uncle who works there!

Maybe if I never ever manage to get a really good job again, I can blame this fire and believe that a letter inviting me to interview for that perfect job was somehow lost...*G*

Crikey! That is quite a sizeable fire too - good thing no one got hurt.

Wasn't it your Post Office that got held up last year too? I think I might be getting a bit wary now if I were a postal worker in your district!

Hee, yep. Although it wasn't the same place - that was a small Post Office Counters outlet that got held up (turned out to be an inside job, and all!) This was the main sorting depot that went up.

I'm just wondering when I can next expect a delivery...

Wow, that's pretty bizarre. I think my first thought would also be, 'What important, vital piece of post am I never going to receive?" Then I'd worry about the people, but luckily they are all fine. Scary stuff!

See, it isn't just me! As I understand it, they don't think any post was damaged or destroyed, but can't be sure just yet. I'm glad no one was hurt...and just hope I start to receive mail again soon. It figures that out of all the districts in the city, it would be mine and my parents' affected by the non-delivery!

Saw this on the BBC website, and my thought was exactly the same as yours "what about the post"? As an afterthought "oops, hope no one's hurt... ah no, apparently not", and then "but doesn't my post come through Penarth Road before it gets to Treorchy?"

No one said people had to be nice or logical *all* the time :)

Hee, true.

The best bit is that of the four specific post codes mentioned as most affected, my parents and myself (on opposide sides of the city) are both included!
