Seem to have developed a Peeping Tom, somehow.

I was getting ready for my shower this morning, early, so it was pitch dark out still, and turned to see someone standing looking in through the back door window, who scurried away the moment I saw them. Too dark to see much: just a dark figure in a bulky coat.

Felt very shook up. I've never not felt safe in that flat, even after the burglary, but this really unsettled me. It did happen once before, about two years ago - right after the burglary, so I told the police when they phoned to check up on me. Nothing since that I know of, but I know that a couple of women have been attacked in the church car park a few doors down, so reserve the right to feel shaken up at the idea of someone lurking around outside my flat watching me, when it's dark and I can't see them. Poppy had been going nuts just before I saw him, running from window to window to look out, but she does that a fair bit and I've always just thought she could see another cat. Maybe it was this bloke every time - she's always nosy when there's anyone out the back, like the chap next foor and his barbeques.

Am now looking forward to the mornings getting lighter. And planning coping strategies. Will have to phone the landlord and let him know, because I want him to know.

Must also call the Scrap Man back to see if he'll actually take the damn car away this time.

Should have bought chocolate on my way into work. Drat.

And this afternoon I've got a meeting with Boss for the formal six-week notification of my redundancy. Marvellous. Still, at least I've got my shiny new Peeping Tom paranoia to distract me from the panic.

Shit! That's very unsettling, and I'd have freak out too.
I hate random people wandering around my place, they always make me nervous *shudders*
And yes, you should have got some chocolate...

Thanks for the sympathy.

Not my best month ever, this one.

Oh man, that's creepy! :( *hugs* Have you never thought about moving out of that place? I mean with your noisy neighbors and the burglary, I would've considered a new flat long ago.

*hands out chocolate for comfort*

Cleft stick, because the neighbours might have sucky moments, and the flat is very small with no central heating, etc, but I have a good relationship with the landlord, which is worth a lot, and I love the location, plus the rent is a lot lower than most other places in the vicinity. If I can get another job, one that's a decent salary, I think I'm going to have to seriously consider moving, though.

And just when I was actually having a couple of days where I felt a bit better and more positive too *sigh*

Thansk for the choccies.

Okay, that is so scary! I hope you're ok. Is there like a light you can always keep on out there or something? That always makes me feel a little better.

Cheers. There is a security light out the back, but it turns off at 3am. I might suggest to Landlord that he have it on a motion detector instead of a timer, perhaps.

Ah! Joey-Jo! Be safe!

But of course when you say "if" you mean "when" you get a new shiny high paying job! Then you move to secure flat and it's all tops... *is concerned and sends hugs and virtual locks and keys*

Ah, thanks for the pep, Jo. And for the birthday rep the other day - I haven't seen you in chat this week to say it.

What would be really nice is if I found a decent job immediately so could put my redundancy money toward a deposit on a flat of my own, instead of living off it while unemployed, but I'm not going to get my hopes up because my luck just isn't running that way at the moment. *sigh*

Thank you. I'm trying to be calm, but this has not been my best month ever, and I'm really creeped out at the thought that some bloke could have been peering into my bedroom for who knows how long.

Yikes! That is decidedly creepy. Absolutely talk to the landlord about getting the security light left on past 3am. It's a small thing, but it might make all the difference.

Have all my sympathy - that is NOT good, as well as being creepifying to the nth degree. Motion sensor is definitely the best idea - lets hope your landlord thinks the same thing, and I know I would if I had that responsibility.

This is a bad month for you - GET CHOCOLATE - that's an order! To quote, there's no problem that can't cure - (well, except one). Hope things get better for you. :)

Thank you. I'm still very creeped out.

For some reason I had a brainstorm while out at lunchtime and bought fruit instead of chocolate. I am insane, clearly. Still. I'm seeing a friend tonight, and she will feed me chocolate, I know.

You could always dip the fruit *in* melted chocolate... part of your 5-a-day, healthy (especially if you use dark chocolate) & comfort food all in one! Can't go wrong. *blissful smile*

Hope you have a good evening with your friend, and that the light gets sorted to help put your mind a little more to rest - you certainly need it at the moment.

I've got that with my neighbours - who needs Eastenders?!

Oh and, SQUEE!!! at your icon! My oldest cat, a grumpy old man of 12 now, is a ginger & white stripy, fluffy thing - called Hobbes. Guess why... (t'others are Esme & Chloe, and there are long stories behind those names too.)

Hee.

I'd like to be able to say there is a story behind my Poppy's name, but my sister named her, so...I suppose the story there is of the second-hand cat!

Hun, that's not good!! I have noticed that cats are really sensitive to people outside the house when we can't hear anything so I'd keep an eye on her. I'd definitely let the landlord know and see if he does something about security, if not and you think it continues you can always phone the police and let them know - especially if there's been attacks nearby.

Take care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poppy = early warning system. She always rushes to the window if there's anything moving outside. It's usually another cat, or the Naked Neighbour playing with his barbeque. But I'm going to have to start paying more attention to her in the mornings, I think.

I left a message at Landlord's office this afternoon, and will call again tomorrow to make sure it is being acted upon. Too wigged out not to! If it happens again I'll definitely call the police.

Thanks for the good wishes!

God I can imagine how scary that must have been. Have the police been able to give you any advice on preventing something happening again?

From: [identity profile] llywela13.livejournal.com
Thanks. I haven't spoken to the police yet, but will if it happens again. I'm going to ask my landlord to alter the security light, which is on a timer at the moment and switches off at 3am. I'd feel a lot safer if it was on a motion detector, in which case, of course, it would come on the moment anyone approached, so that I'd both have warning and be able to see anyone lurking outside - no more hiding in the shadows to watch me getting dressed or undressed!

I think you should phone the police now as they may have had other reports of a prowler in your area.

That's scary. The motion detector light is a good idea and maybe a blind or something on the back door window.
I hope your landlord takes you seriously and does something quickly.

You would think the naked neighbour would scare prowlers away! ;p

I'm hoping for a motion detector, and yeah, a blind might be good, but I'd hate to lose any more light than I have to, as the flat is so dark at the best of times. We'll see what happens. I was very cautious this morning, but of course no one was going to come near the day after being spotted.

You would think the naked neighbour would scare prowlers away! ;p
