painting and decorating
Oct. 15th, 2007 02:58 pmHave invested in some pots of paint, in the probably over-optimistic hopes of spending a few fun-filled days decorating my bedroom. The lower half of my bedroom, anyway. I did the walls a while back, mostly because the room is prone to damp and I wanted to treat it. That worked nicely - the walls have been clean and dry every since. But there is a section of wood panelling circling the lower half of the room that I didn't do at the time, which is now starting to look rather sorry for itself. It needs to be treated, and although I'm sure my landlord would sort something out if I asked him, it is frankly a lot less effort to just do it myself. Besides, it's fun, painting walls. So, now all I need to do is a) work out when would be most convenient to take a few days off work, b) pin Boss down to ask for those days off, and c) convince the cat that I'm locking her out of the bedroom while I paint for her own good!
Can't remember - have I mentioned in this journal before now that Boss has broken up with Rich Boyfriend in spectacularly accromonious fashion? Have yet to work out if this is a good or bad thing.
On the subject of painting and decorating, I saw a bloke in the post office the other day who had clearly been doing some of his own. His sweatshirt was liberally spotted with paint, concentrated in particular in the armpit region. I'm assuming he has a bad habit of wiping his hands under his arms. The general effect of this was to make him look as if he'd been sweating copious amounts of bright pink paint!
Lastly, I had a weird dream last night. It was the film Stardust. Now, I know nothing about this film - don't know who's in it, don't know what it's about. But I have seen the name advertised widely, and this has obviously sunk into my subconscious and resulted in my sleeping mind inventing a story and applying the name 'Stardust' to it. My dream film was a bizarre Hollywood-type faux-medieval romp, with Brad Pitt, of all people, providing slapstick comic relief, which I hate. Seriously. I now don't dare go see the film itself, since it could never live up to my own version!

I like painting with emulsion and rollers, but unfortunately the job I need to do over half term is gloss painting the hall skirting boards and wood all up the stairs, as we are replacing the bannisters, so the paintwork needs smartening up first.

Saw first episode of SUPERNATURAL last night ... FANTASTIC ... Bobby in the suit reminded me of
