Jul. 5th, 2007 09:14 amItem the first: ITV are finally, finally broadcasting Supernatural's second season on their terrestrial channel, starting next Friday at 11pm. So, all those people who don't have ITV2 and aren't able to download will now be able to watch and enjoy season two. Yay!
Item the second: went to see Molly last night. Her neighbour, Ricky, finally died on Monday. It sounds awful to say 'about time, too', but honestly, the man was a swine, and he's been dying by degrees for the last 18 months. His finally passing is a blessing, it really is. But I'm sorry for his wife, Muriel. Moll was more concerned about her cat, Claude, who is extremely poorly at the moment. It's worrying because he's the youngest and healthiest of her cats, as well as being absolutely gorgeous - he's half-Siamese, a beautiful smoky-grey, and has the loveliest nature. Fingers crossed he'll be okay. As I said to Moll, with my own cat being gone now, hers are the only ones I get cuddles from any more!
Item the third: the students have gone home for the summer now, leaving behind their usual disgusting mess of rubbish. So many residential streets in the district suffer from this problem, every summer. The students go home at the end of their exams, and seem to either throw out just about everything they own rather than take it with them, or they've just not put the bins out the entire time they've lived there! Street after street of gardens piled high with bin bags, regardless of when the rubbish collections are actually scheduled for. The binmen won't take black bags from gardens, they have to be out in the street, but if the kids have all moved out, there is no one to move them into the street on the day of the collection. Result? The whole district becomes unsightly, and residents - who live there all year around, and have done long before the area became a student haven - have to live with the nuisance and the inevitable rat population. The council laid on a special collection specifically for the student areas at the beginning of June, taking rubbish from gardens, and collected 92 tons! That's a hell of a lot of rubbish. There was supposed to be a similar collection last weekend to coincide with the official end of semester, but it was cancelled. I hope it is rearranged soon.
Item the fourth: belated Happy Fourth of July to all the Americans on my f-list.

Bloody students! ;)

Date: 2007-07-05 07:00 pm (UTC)Bloody students indeed! *G* There are two times in the year that I feel the need to student-rant. The first is early October when they arrive and it's like a swarm of locusts have descended upon all the local shops - bare shelves, literally! And the second is when they go home for the summer and leave all their mess behind...
