One of my volunteers has just brought me in a little book of poems he's just had published - all his original work. He's in his 80s, and some of his stuff is really lovely. I'll have to maybe type a couple of them up to show off here one day. :-)

Also, the lights in my office keep flickering. Again. Either the electrics really are about to spontaneously combust due to that leaky roof, or we have got a malevolent spirit haunting us after all!

"That was about as fun as getting kicked in the jewels."

Made these a while ago – I'm not really happy with any of the Supernatural or Dark Angel ones, but here they are anyway. The flower icons are much prettier, mostly because I did very little to them – the original images were gorgeous to begin with!

One final thought - the UK Development Managers (for my organisation) should never be allowed to have their quarterly get-together here again. I've got better things to do than run around fetching drinks and food for them all day. There's been a steady stream of volunteers popping in and out all day, as well, so it's nice to finally be able to sit down and stop running around after them all - and to have five minutes to get this update posted. Madness!

"I'm not sure I like the idea of Andy doing this to people for fun, if this is the effect it has. I'm guessing, though, that the long-distance thing comes into play here – his techniques are probably more refined up close, but from this distance, and not really knowing where Dean is, it works out a lot more crudely."

I don't think it has anything to do with the distance. Remember that in 'Simon Said' when Andy forces the 'confession' out of Dean, Dean doubles over with a severe headache as well. Interestingly enough all other people we see Andy do mind-control on show no sign of discomfort, so maybe it has more to do with how forceful and urgent Andy slams into the other mind.

But it's still kind of sad to note that this family friend has proved more stalwart in support of the boys than their own father, that he has come through for them every time they've asked for help, whereas John never even returned their calls.

Geez, that's what exactley my thought was when Bobby showed up this episode again. He always comes through for the boys, always. No hesitation and he has been in some deep stuff with them together. So much more a father figure than John in the last year. ♥

Although how much of what the Demon tells him can be trusted implicitly is another matter entirely – demons lie, twist the truth ..

You know, reading that I realized that in all the time of SN we uhm actually have to come a across a demon that flat out lied to the boys. *lol* .. twisting the truth, hell yeah, but lying? Not one as far as I remember.

Great Review, as always. I am still crying whenever I only read of that damn endscene. Wished it was friday already /sigh

That was quick, Chris! I was guessing about the distance being an issue for that enforced vision - I'm never sure in Simon Said whether Dean doubling over is an induced headache or just sheer oh my god what did I just say?!. And as you say, no one else who gets mind controlled seems to suffer discomfort, so I was guessing. Probably it was just to increase the drama of the scene *G* But it just doesn't seem in character for Andy to plant thoughts in peoples' heads if he knew it caused them pain, so there has to be a reason having that vision rammed into his head was so painful for Dean. Could be the urgency, could be that distance makes it harder to be subtle. Who knows?

Heh. Well, Denial causes people in the show to keep repeating the 'demons lie' mantra over and over, anyway, so it was worth throwing it in just for that. But they do tend to twist the truth way more than anything else, it's true - so much easier to cause pain that way.

That final scene is still killing me even now - roll on Friday!

*g* I had nothing better to do :D

Heh, I always figured he was in pain, what with the grunting and the doubling over, maybe it was because he got whammied by Andy 3 times in a row or it's about how much you really don't wanna do what Andy tells you to do?! But yeah, I can't actually see Andy willingly hurt people. Hmmm
