My Supernatural season two part one DVD arrived today, much to my delight. It isn't officially released until Monday! Better still - it has extras!! Woohoo!

Okay, so it's only a few deleted scenes, but it's still more than the big fat nothing Region Two got last season! So I'm hopping around with delight today. It's ridiculous how happy something so little can make me.

The parents have taken Small off to Oakwood in West Wales today with a couple of schoolfriends, as her birthday treat. I could have gone with them, but cried off - bribed my way out of it, in fact. I've done enough leisure parks with her when she was younger. She's got her friends, doesn't need me to go on rides with her, and there's really no need for a third adult to pay through the nose for the privilege of standing around watching the rides all day. So, they've gone. I've been pottering around the house all day - cleaned the microwave, did a bit of gardening, bit of washing. And now I'm enjoying my shiny new DVDs!

No new Doctor Who tonight, sad to say. I never did post about last week's, I don't think. Seems a bit late now. I liked it - I'm loving how pro-active Martha is, that she challenges the Doctor and doesn't let him get away with anything. I'm glad this 'one trip' thing is over now. She's made an active choice to continue travelling with him, leaving her old life behind for the duration. I also liked her sister, being so supportive in the face of parental disapproval. And the Mr Saxon thing is beginning to intrigue me a little for the first time.

The first part of Supernatural's season finale just about killed me. Sammy! Dean! See - this is the value of being completely, utterly unspoiled. It was a huge effort to stay unspoiled for the finale, but totally, totally worth it. Spoiler free is the only way to fly!

That's a thought I'm going to have to cling to all summer when the show is on hiatus and spoilers are all we've got.

Fuller thoughts at a later date.

Oooh extras! Woot! *bounces* I totally get why that makes you so happy. After yesterday something like that is just a generous gesture of the universe to make you feel better! :)

It is disproportionately exciting, I must admit!

It's always a very different experience re-watching the start of the season once you get to the end and know so much more.

Oh definitely. I know that after yesterday I will see the whole 2nd part of this season slightly different. One has to be really grateful for the 'retroactive' storytelling (dunno how else to call it) in this show. We usually get to see effects before we get to know the causes of those effects and are only able to put the picture together afterwards, opening new perspectives on a second viewing. I love shows who offer so much more on multiple viewings, it's a very satifying experience. ♥

*nods* Buffy was always praised for the foreshadowing of future events, but SN takes that and raises it a notch. No little prophecies thrown into the pot here and there, but instead consistency of acting and hint dropping, every detail tying up in the most intensely satisfying manner - like you said, the actions and reactions are shown long before we are ever told the cause. Multiple viewings is key, and is awesome. So much more to get out of a show like this than the bubblegum shows you only ever have to watch once to understand everything and everyone.

Hey I understand why it makes you happy too, I squeed just finding some songs Jensen did backing vocals on LOL. Anyway DVDs are all about extras! I can't believe they left them out on the UK and Aus season 1 DVDs.

Hee. I reserve the right to be all kinds of happy about the handful of deleted scenes until the Region 1 DVD is released, at which point I shall be cross about not having commentaries or gag reel!

Stupid DVD makers.

Hee. You could have had my seat in the car! Helping deal with three giggly 11year old girls would have been the price. *G*
