Popped into the supermarket on my way home to pick up a few bits and bobs and was served by a woman whose name is Irene, same as her mother before her. She works there full time, so I often see her, and we always say hello and have a chat. She's known me since I was tiny, because her younger daughter, also called Irene, went to school with me, from nursery through high school. However, I don't dare ever ask how my old school friend Irene the Younger is getting on these days, because Irene the Middle has apparently had a huge falling out with both her daughters and won't talk about either of them. Doesn't even want to hear their names mentioned. Families, huh. Complicated things.
Also randomly today, while running errands for work at lunchtime, I ran into the two little Belgian girls who visited my Sunday School class last week. These two little kids come running up to me in the middle of a crowded shop for hugs - I had to go introduce myself to their mother so she'd know who they hell I was! Cute kids, though.
