One of my pet hates in work - and I'll admit that I have rather a lot of them - is answering the phone only for the person at the other end to say with suspicion, "Who's speaking?" I react with gobsmacked indignation every time. "You phoned me!"

Bah. *G*

Have just splashed out on a couple of football tickets each for Small and myself to see Wales' next couple of home games, in March and June. £49 for four tickets to see internationals. Not bad at all.

grrrrrrrrr
I hate that too!!!! That's why I have Caller ID at home.. I never answer to anyone whose number isn't even appearing :)
Have fun in the football matches next couple of months!! I'm jealous.

thanks, Lina!

Oh, how I'd love to be able to pick and choose the calls I answer in work...*G*

In that fantastic Millennium stadium? (Sorry, not up on football!) An experience in itself, I should think, if so!

Millennium Stadium, yes. The atmosphere in there is always fabulous, and the FAW has a fantastic pricing policy. I bought two tickets each for Small and I for those two international games for less than you'd pay for one ticket to see a Premiership match.

That is one of my pet-hates too. Once this woman rang up our house because our number was on her 1471 after someone rang her hours before. She wouldn't tell me who she was, just "You rang me. Who are you?" Well annoying.

Too, too annoying. The phone drives me mad in work - the call centre calls that you answer and have a machine voice tell you your call is in a queue...those are among the worst!

"What number did you call??"

I can instantly think of several snippy replies to "Who are YOU?", but I'm not gainfully employed and wouldn't lose my job if I followed first impulses ;-) :

~~ "Gosh, don't you know? I was hoping you could tell me!"

~~ "Hold on a second while I read my nametag again...."

~~ "If you don't know my name, why did you call me?"

... and so on. (Best you don't hire me to answer your phones, 'kay? [Snerk snerk guffaw!] )

ROFL

I don't think I'm much better on the phones, to be honest. I try to be polite when I actually have someone on the line (although I am at times reduced to speechlessness) but when the phone first rings I sit there cursing at it...*G*

That irritates me beyond words when the caller asks me who I am. I don't know who you are so why the heck should I give you any info about me.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who gets these inane phone calls. ;)

The phone drives me mad in work, it really does. Maybe if my job title was 'receptionist' rather than 'administrator' I wouldn't mind so much...but I wouldn't bet on it.

My boss won't come into the office if I'm not there to answer the phone!
