Went round to my friend Molly's tonight after work. She's calmer now than she was a couple of months ago, but still pretty frazzled what with one thing and another - grandson and daughter-in-law both having cancer, adult son moved back home after the failure of his marriage, alcoholic husband in a residential home generally continuing to be a selfish bastard, health worries of her own, problems with the house, and to cap it all she had her purse stolen this week while volunteering to man an art exhibition in the city centre. She was trying to be very philosophical about it, but she was clearly very shaken - not much money in the purse, but having to cancel and replace bank cards and bus pass takes time, during which she can't access her money easily and has to pay for public transport despite being over 60. Life sucks sometimes. She's also very worried about Kerry, the daughter-in-law, who is having a really bad time of it with the chemotherapy and has openly admitted that if not for the children she would not be continuing treatment. :-(

I always read the papers at Moll's, although I never bother to buy them for myself - the news is always depressing and makes me angry. But the best part of reading the local news is the section they have devoted to reporting on recent cases in court. It's always worth checking that for any names I recognise. Spotted two tonight that were in school with me, although not in the same year. Man, I went to a rough school...

Yay for Crespo, who scored for Inter in the Champions League tonight.
