Nov. 7th, 2006 01:06 pmA miracle is taking place right before my eyes. There is an engineer here. And he is working on the air conditioning, replacing and repositioning the sensors. If he has any idea at all what he's doing, it is very possible that the heating in this wretched building might actually work properly from now on...
Fingers crossed, but I won't hold my breath. Only time will tell.
In other news, this stupid cold is still hanging on with stubborn determination. For a couple of days now I've woken up feeling better, although still with a cough, and thought I was over the worst of it, only to start going downhill fast by about 11am. Such a nuisance. I hope it shifts soon.
Small has decided what she wants me to buy her for Christmas - a guitar. I miss the days when she was happy with a dressing up outfit from the Disney Shop! However, Argos has come to the rescue with a child-sized guitar that's affordable, so I think I'll go for that. Must start to put some serious thought into Christmas shopping now - it's a way away still but approaching fast. They've started assembling the stalls for the Craft Fair around the Old Library on the Hayes, I noticed today. That always goes up six weeks before Christmas, which means we're under starters orders now!
Christmas and birthdays are when being part of a large family becomes a source of deep regret to my bank balance... *G*

Date: 2006-11-07 01:50 pm (UTC)At about this time of year, I spend an inordinate amount of time interrogating my nearest and dearest as to exactly what they might like to have. This technique means that I rarely have to worry about buying something they don't like, but on the downside also means that they always know pretty much what I'm getting them!

Date: 2006-11-08 02:52 am (UTC)I hate asking people what they want as they always say, "Oh, you don't have to buy me anything!"
And since they said that, I'll feel more pressure to get a gift! So in the end I don't get the answer that I want. Grr...
