Caller: Please tell me the name of your managing director.
Me: Can I ask why you are calling?
Caller: I need the name of your managing director so we can send you some important information.
Me: What kind of information? Can you explain the purpose of this call?
Caller: I need to speak to the person responsible for your company cars. I have important information that could save you money -
Me: We are a registered charity. We really don't have any company cars. Please don't call again.

And yet they do call again. Over and over and over.

LOL! I've had a morning like that as well - had a guy on the phone who, after checking that Sandy (the editor) wasn't in the office, began explaining in great detail that he'd spoken to her, and she'd promised him that she'd run his article in the next issue and how it had all been arranged and the article was ready and all was wonderful and it should all be booked in...

...I didn't have the heart to tell him that Sandy is short for Alexander and that the editor (who he'd apparently spoken to) is actually a man... *sniggers*

These people are turning me into a crazy person - It's beyond brushing them off... I want to keeeeeeel them. The line-of-credit people are the worst - What would a fundraising organization need with a business loan?!?

And the spam faxes... AUGH!

Abso-bloomin'-lutely.

Spam faxes - that's our paper and ink they are wasting. We are a charity - we can't afford it. Bah.

I would say 'isn't it comforting to know it isn't just you?', except that it really isn't. It's just infuriating to know that it is a global problem, that no one seems to benefit from. The curse of modern society.

An these telemarketers are probably ringing from another country, far, far away. You are a statistic to them - filling in their daily quota.
