Oh, how I love lazy weekends, with nothing to do and all weekend to do it in.

The weather has been gorgeous. Now, if I was trudging to and from work every day, which I usually am, I wouldn't appreciate the heat and sun. Since I'm not, I'm content to make the most of it and, accordingly, have spent the bulk of the weekend lounging out the back with a sunhat and good book (Terry Pratchett, for the record - really not in the mood for anything heavier!)

I've also spent a lot of time this weekend running back and forth to the DVD-R, as I've started transferring some stuff I'd recorded on VHS many moons ago onto DVD, in hopes of extending their longevity, the state of my video player being as precarious as it is (started chewing things up way back).

In the interests of continuing to experiment with photoshop, and get some more practice in, I've branched out from my Supernatural episode headers (which will continue to be posted as and when I complete the review for that episode) and have started to make some for Firefly, to go with the couple of episodes I've reviewed so far. I really must find time to get the rest of the show done.

Main page header:

Episode one:

Episode two:

And I also made a header for one of my seaQuest DVD episode reviews, randomly. Because that's what I've been transferring from VHS to DVD this weekend, and I'm reminded why liking this show is my guilty pleasure. The storylines are generally awful, and the plotting weak, but the dialogue can be amusing (also trite and cringe-worthy at times, admittedly), the characters are mostly engaging and they have some very pretty actors...

The seaQuest reviews I did, ages ago, were my first, and mostly just give an overview rather than going into immense detail as I do these days, but they were written mostly to remind me which episodes I liked best and why, and still serve that purpose, even if I never did get all the episodes completed.

Anyway, this is the header I made, episode selected more or less randomly.

I wanted to see if it was possible to make something halfway decent with the really poor quality caps that are all that seems to be available for the show. And despite the caps I used being really small and grainy, the result isn't half bad.

'Cept of course that the 'nothing to do' part is fast coming to an end. Must give up my evening to trudge across the city in the heat to attend a Sunday School teachers meeting I'd forgotten we were having...

Alas. Such is the burden of being responsible and owning a conscience, darn it.

Lazy, warm days...that's what summer is all about, no?

I'm still learning, still experimenting - it's lots of fun for while my writing muse is on his summer holidays.

Sorry to hear about your poor little drowned hedgehog. That's sad :(

Sad for the hedgehog. And I was told having a pond in your garden was good for the wildlife!

Learning and expermenting sounds fun, and looks really good. I think it's a good plan to give your muse holidays, toherwise they go AWOL
