agentxpndble gave me the letter N
Crikey, can I think of any characters at all whose names begin with the letter N?
1. Well, there's Doctor Who's Nyssa. She's cute, she's posh, she's clever and she's quietly badass. This is a girl who turned an engineering tool into a stun gun to bust the Doctor out of prison and built a sonic blaster from scratch to destroy a deadly android that had the Doctor stumped, how awesome is that? She didn't allow tragedy to weigh her down when her family were murdered and her homeworld destroyed, but instead channelled her grief into steely inner strength, and was always a cool head in a crisis.

2. And then there's the Doctor himself, the Ninth Doctor, that is, who found himself in a similar position to Nyssa after the Time War: his homeworld wiped out and his people gone. Nine brought with him the re-launch of the show and was the first introduction of a whole new generation of fans to the brilliant insanity that is Doctor Who. He was fantastic: angstier than his predecessors, but also manic and energetic and creative and fiercely principled and everything else the Doctor should always be.

3. Nate Ford from Leverage. Where to begin? An alcoholic former insurance investigator turned vigilante, Nate is an incredibly complex character and the linchpin of the show, bringing together a team of reformed professional criminals to right corporate and governmental injustices inflicted on ordinary citizens from the other side of the law. He has an addictive personality and control issues out the wazoo, but he is incredibly good at what he does, the ultimate mastermind. The team often struggle to handle him – but they couldn't do what they do without him.

4. Ned the pie maker from Pushing Daisies, a tall, lanky and adorable bundle of tightly wound nerves with an extraordinary gift that double-times as both a blessing and a curse: he can bring the dead back to life just by touching them…but there are strict conditions. If he touches them a second time, they die forever, but if he allows them to live longer than 60 seconds, someone else must die in their place. Teaming up with private detective Emerson Cod, Ned uses his gift to solve impossible murders. And thus an almost ridiculously cute and quirky show was born. I usually have a very limited tolerance for that kind of cutesy, but something about the visually striking Pushing Daisies really appealed to me, and the affable, awkward character of Ned had a lot to do with that.

Um...
5. Niobe from Rome. A strong woman and loving mother trapped by her own circumstances, who ultimately fell victim to the harsh brutality of the age into which she was born. Niobe was great, such a fishwife. I was so sad when she died.

And an honourable mention to Dark Angel's Normal, who represents every petty jobsworth boss you ever had and does so in brilliantly hilarious fashion.
