honestly, cats!
Feb. 8th, 2012 07:06 amMY GIDDY-AUNT!
It's early. I just got up. I'm enjoying a nice cup of tea, which is intended to wake me up gently. I hear a scrabbling noise from the hallway so I go to investigate. I find Alfie desperately trying to retrieve a mouse that has run into my shoe for shelter!
This is the fourth mouse he has brought home since New Year. He finally figured out the hunting thing. Plus, I suspect he's found a nest. And the cold weather makes them incautious and slow. He doesn't bring them home as trophies for me, though. Oh, no. He brings them home alive as toys for himself. He gets very upset when I try to take them off him.
After a brief struggle, the mouse is now back outside in the cold, Alfie is sullking - and I'm disinfecting my shoe!
You know, I liked it back when neither of my cats was capable of catching anything...
Still, Poppy didn't even notice anything was going on until it was all over!
