cold, cold, cold

Am starting to feel slightly more human again after being absolutely prostrated by the most hideous head cold for the better part of a week. At least I can speak again now - I had no idea how much I talk until I couldn't!
I don't seem to have picspammed in ages, so here are my kitties to brighten this cold winter's day.
Tabby Treasures: Poppy and Alfie

(amazing the difference flash vs ambient light makes to the colouring of a photo)

And Macavity the Mystery Cat makes a Triumvirate of Tabbies!

Yep, my little stray has pretty much moved into the back room since the weather turned, and has adopted that spot on the bed settee as his, bless him.
I know that all the cat people on my f-list will understand me, though, when I say that there is a huge distinction between a cat that lives in a house and one that merely finds shelter there, and that is the distinction between Macavity and the solid unit formed by Poppy and Alfie. Macavity has learned to trust me enough to take refuge in my house in this bad weather - he has even learned to trust me enough that he now adores having his head scritched and is comfortable asking for food if he's eaten what was down and is still hungry. He doesn't live with me, though. He's very much a visitor, and as such could disappear again any day. I hope he knows that he can stay as long as he needs or wants to - he's a nice little thing, very gentle and sweet-natured and also, I think, is clearly far from young, so I'd hate to think of him out there on his own, cold and hungry, when he is more than welcome to stay.
For now, I'm keeping a close eye on him and attempting to monitor his health, because I don't think he's young and am not convinced that he is 100% well. He seems happy, though, which is what matters.

The moral of this story is: tabby cats appear to be my destiny!
