Have had my dad around with his landlord hat on to take a look at the dishwasher. The verdict is: yep, that's knackered. Looks like for the time being, at least, I'm going to have to get used to doing things the old fashioned way again, washing up by hand.

Bah humbug. I liked having a dishwasher! It's only been a year - the novelty hasn't worn off yet!
