that Friday feeling
Sep. 20th, 2005 10:45 pmToday, I'm up slightly earlier than normal thanks to having one of those crack of dawn starts in order to get to a staff meeting in Aberystwyth later this morning.
This is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, I always enjoy the run out to Aberystwyth. The Cardiff-based staff (three of us) all travel together. Boss drives; I navigate. We take all the minor roads as a short-cut, and after doing it so many times I could get there and back blindfold, and yet neither of the other two ever recognise the roads! I guess I should put navigation on my CV as a skill! *G* Anyway, as I was saying, it is a very pretty run through the countryside and up the coast. As a staff, we all get on really well and, since we're all scattered around the country, we all genuinely enjoy having the chance to get together every three months like this. And, in the car, I generally get the chance to actually pin my Boss down to talk about important stuff that we never otherwise talk about because she's never in the office!
On the downside - it is a staff meeting. I have to take minutes. It is a dull task.
But on the bright side, after today I don't have to go back into work until Monday. And I don't care about all the work I'm leaving undone on my desk - I've been feeling pretty fed up about work lately, largely because of other people and their attitudes (i.e., not coming in when they say they are going to, and therefore letting me down). I think having a break even for a couple of days will do me good. I shall go and see Pride and Prejudice with my Mum, go to Mike's funeral, and then spend a couple of days re-decorating my bedroom. And hopefully return to work next week with batteries re-charged.
