llywelaWell, that was a bit of excitement for a Thursday lunchtime!
Popped into town for a spot of window-shopping, only to hear a lot of shouting up ahead. Looked up to see a rather Portly Older Gentleman (a security guard) puffing along and shouting anxiously, while up ahead a couple of workmen from a nearby building site grabbed hold of a very Smartly Dressed Shopper and held him tight.
Portly Older Gentleman caught up, and he had an equally Portly Female Shop Assistant huffing along behind him. Turned out Smartly Dressed Shopper had been thieving. So they started to escort him back to the shop to call the police, only for him to start struggling and fighting like a wild cat, so that the workmen had to pile on top of him and pin him to the ground, while Portly Older Gentleman radio'd frantically for urgent assistance. Then a whole caboodle of security guards came racing to the scene from nearby stores to take over from the have-a-go hero workmen, who returned to work to rapturous applause and wolf whistles from the crowd of onlookers (and their highly amused colleagues!) while Smartly Dressed Shoplifter was hauled away to face the music.
Better than street theatre!
