Nov. 5th, 2008 10:42 amLooks like Legal & General are pretty inflexible on the start date, so I'm going to stick with that and let the other interview go this time.
I've always been able to pick up interviews - I have another one coming up at the end of the month. The problem has always been the competition - supply is massively outstripping demand right now. So not going to this interview isn't the end of the world. There was no guarantee I'd be offered the job anyway. At this point, I just want to be working, and L&G can give me that, starting next Monday. Then I can continue to hunt for a permanent position - and take time off for interviews - from a position of greater strength. And will have a little more money to live on than I have right now, not to mention boosting my confidence and self-respect. I've hated unemployment so much.
So I'm comfortable with this decision.
Now I just have to let Marks & Spencer know that I won't be taking up the 20 hours a week they'd offered me, and let UWIC know I can't make that interview...
