Currently in the throes of painting and decorating my bedroom. The actual painting doesn't really take all that long - it's all the hanging around waiting for one coat to dry so the second can be applied, etc, that takes up so much time!

The cat is going nuts and may never forgive me for locking her out of the room while I work, so that she can't see what I'm doing. Horror! She's such a nosy little thing.

It's nice to be off work for a couple of days, though. It's been crazy this week, seriously crazy, and I was only there for three days. Everyone seems so highly strung at the moment. Boss appears to be getting back together with Rich Boyfriend after all the high drama of their split, which I'm sure is nice for them, but honestly. The quality of her work has been on a downward slide ever since they've been together - I was looking forward to her getting more focused and maybe even becoming an effective manager once she was over the trauma of the split! No such luck, it seems.

A touch of exposition before continuing the story: our parent organisation is split into a number of divisions that are virtually autonomous and have little to do with one another. One of these projects, VP, was based upstairs in our building, but pretty much went bankrupt and have had to lay off all their staff. This was the project we've had most to do with, and their last remaining staff member, Sarah, has been working with us on budgets and whatnot. So it's a big loss for us too that she's going; she finishes next week. So, with her own office pretty much closed now, Sarah was working in ours all last week, alternating between hysterical crying and hysterical laughing, what with the redundancy and having too much to do before she finishes, and all that. The shewee she was given as part of her leaving present gave everyone something to laugh/goggle at, mind!

Another girl, Suzanne, who works for a different project again but was housed with VP, is now moving into my office because of theirs closing. She's been a bit off the airwaves as well, having lots of personal stuff going on. Between the three of them, it's been really difficult to get any of my own work done, so many people buzzing around in a flap. I actually spent most of the week doing office removals. Sarah and I between us dissassembled Suz's desk, carried it down two flights of stairs in pieces, and then reassembled it again. We felt very proud of ourselves when it was done. And that was just the start of it - Suz has got so much stuff! Filing cabinet, computer, fax, etc, etc, etc... Between the three of us, we've just about finished moving everything that needed to be moved, and agreed that an alternative career in furniture removals is not to be desired!

Looking forward to a quieter week next week, with any luck, and to possibly even getting a bit of my own work done...
