Small just came prancing out of my bedroom wearing a t-shirt and long, floaty skirt that belong to me, and they fit. There is something fundamentally wrong with this picture! She's ten. And far too tall, clearly.

She stayed over last night on the understanding that she would get up at a decent time and not get in my way or argue too much this morning, as I had more Christmas shopping plans. Didn't quite manage the not arguing thing, as having got up at a decent time she then didn't fancy coming shopping with me. Laid down the law and we went, since she came accompanied by £10 of her own for gift purchasing. Ended up subbing her about the same amount again, but managed to find a little something for everyone on her list. Also managed to get through a bit more of mine, including indulgent chocolate for stockings. Unfortunately I then ate the chocolate destined for my brother, so will have to replace that in the week!

This afternoon we're going back to my parents' place as dad's oldest sister and her husband, Ruth and Stan, are visiting from Oxfordshire. Haven't seen them since Stan had his diagnosis of terminal cancer earlier this year so really don't want to miss them on this visit. Also, this means Small will go home and I'll only have her for half the weekend instead of the whole thing.

Tomorrow will be a nightmare of final Christmas play rehearsals with the Sunday School, plus the little tea party we're throwing for the kids and their parents in the afternoon, before the play itself in the evening. The kids will be adorably cute on the night, but the final preparations will drive us all to distraction, so I might as well start preparing for that now.

And then we're into final Christmas countdown. Have only got a couple of gifts still to acquire. On Tuesday we're all taking Small to see John Barrowman in panto, which should be...interesting. Can't remember the last time I went to panto, but suspect I was younger than Small is now, so it's been a while. We've taken her to the ballet the last couple of Christmasses, which has been a mixed success because the dancing is always lovely, but Small can't get over how rude it is, with the girls always showing their knickers, and the less said about the men the better...*G* So, panto it is, this year, but only because of 'Captain Jack'.
