Many hours this weekend were spent at the new house helping Dad chop down the three foot high forest that was once a lawn. Apparently, the woman who owned the house last, aside from not paying a single bill in six years - hence the repossession - also never once set foot in the garden. Such a waste.

As the jungle was tamed, we kept unearthing remnants of the garden that once existed, before Ms Repossession took up residence and began her reign of neglect. It was a bit like a miniature version of the Lost Gardens of Heligan!

Now have massive blisters on my hands, but feel fully qualified to take up a new career in hedging and ditching.

What is up with the weather, btw? It is warmer and sunnier now, in the middle of October, than it was in the middle of August! Madness. It's all madness.

It is looking more and more certain that I will be moving into the old house once the family take up residence in the new. Just have to figure out how I'm going to swing the finance - all depends what my work situation is doing at the time. Nothing is going to happen before Christmas, certainly. Practically salivating at the thought of all that space! But I will almost certainly have to take in a lodger to cover the bills. We'll see how it goes. In the meantime, I seem to be collecting additional furniture already - all second hand, of course, but then so is practically every stick I already own. I'm not proud. I can live with eclectic.

Very tired now.
