My neighbour finally came home last night. Just Rosa by herself, though - her husband has been transferred to a hospital in Portugal, near to her parents, so they are looking after him. Rosa had to come home because of work commitments, plus the cat, of course. She looked so happy compared to the last time I saw her, so relieved - a huge weight has lifted off her shoulders, now that he is out of danger.
She was away a long time, between the holiday and her husband's illness - just a day short of four full weeks. That's a really long time in the life of a five-month-old kitten. Come the end, I was having Socks in here with me almost all day, because she was getting so lonely and distressed on her own for so long. That was fun - once she got over her jealousy, Poppy remembered that she too was a kitten not so long ago and the pair of them had an absolute blast, chasing each other around and play-fighting for hours on end. So they are now firm friends.
It's really good that things can get back to normal now, though.
