a grumble

Getting a wee bit fed up, since my gammy little finger has been playing up since the middle of last week, and it makes it hard to type properly.

It sounds pathetic to whinge about a pinky finger pain, but defects come in all shapes and sizes, and this is mine. Both my smallest fingers are crooked, born that way. Genetic, rather than an actual birth defect, although I'm the first person to have it for a couple of generations. The middle bone in each little finger is the wrong shape, which causes the top bone to point inward at the fourth finger instead of being straight. This also causes the joints to rub horribly, with an effect not unlike arthritis. The right hand is worse, since that is my writing hand, and that is the one playing up right now. It hurts. And that makes me cross.

I think it is the change in the weather that's doing it. It has become very cold the last few days. So, I've strapped the finger up and am having a bit of a moan about it.

Hmmm

Someone on one of the forums I occasionally pop in and out of made the mistake of a) trying to convert me to the slash fic cause, because I'd said that I don't like it, and b) trying to convince me that fanfic doesn't really need proper spelling and presentation to be a good read.

Sad to say, my reply turned into a bit of a rant on both subjects. I mean, I accept that slash is very popular. I just don't happen to like it, in much the same way that I don't like eating peas or watching snooker. I don't try to convert slashers to the gen cause, so why do they try to convert me?

And I'm really not going to budge on the whole 'good spelling and grammar really is necessary and not that hard to achieve' principle.

Minor aside - is it worth paying for this journal just because I have more icons I like than my free account allows me to use? *G*

Humbird: "Bastin, what do you do with your nuclear waste products?"
Enkidu: "We make marmite from them."
Bastin: "I bury them under 50ft of concrete in my back garden. There's enough pain and suffering in the world without more Marmite."

LOL

Thank you, people, for reminding me why I have yet to leave FinalFootball, despite the many heated fights I have had with Bastin on the subject of British versus Welsh/English nationalism.
