'tis the season
Nov. 29th, 2016 08:24 pmI have entered the danger zone. The Christmas danger zone. I posted my Scout post cards today, and that's where things always get dicey.
I always use the Scout post for my local Christmas cards. I love that the local Scouts offer this service, delivering through Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, and I like to support them. Plus, they are cheaper than the Royal Mail! But the Scout post closes early, so they have time to sort and deliver. This means I have to be super-organised and get all my local Christmas cards written and posted in good time, to catch the Scout post...
And the trouble with that is that I get complacent. I feel like I've done my cards now, I can relax...and then what usually happens is that just before Christmas I have a sudden, stunning realisation that I also know people outside of Cardiff and the Vale and really should get cards into the regular post for them, too! I usually remember in time for the cards to get there before Christmas, but sometimes it's a bit touch and go!
I'm the same with gift-buying, as well. I buy a few, and then feel all organised and efficient and rest on my laurels for a while, and then suddenly realise it's getting late and there are still all those other gifts I haven't bought yet and I'm not actually organised at all!
Christmas is hard work.
