I made a thing for my niece, who is due in a little over four weeks now.
Chel had to see an anaesthetist last week and had an endoscopy - a little camera up her nose to check her airway, as a precaution because they were concerned about her cleft palate repair and deviated septum in the event of a c-section; she saw the top consultant, who was brilliant with her (unusually, he'd actually taken account of the word 'autistic' all over her notes). The outcome: her airway is very small, but could be managed in a pinch. She is hoping, though, for a water birth; the midwives were reluctant, muttering about risk assessments, so the consultant did the assessment on the spot and wrote it on her notes! So she is now content.

Date: 2015-08-16 03:34 pm (UTC)I still can't believe she's having a baby. She is a baby! She's 19 but in my head she's still 9. But then I see the great big bump - at 34 weeks the midwife said she was measuring nearer to 36 and asked if she'd packed her bag yet...
36 weeks this Tuesday. Not long now.
The bear ended up I think slightly lopsided, but aside from that I think it worked out! I was ages sewing on all those beads to spell out the name.
