Also much cheaper to go on holiday during term time! We've always been tied when we wanted to all gather together for a family holiday, because Big Sis was a teacher and Small Sis was still in school. But now that Big Sis no longer teaches for health reasons, and Small Sis is now out of school at last - term time family gathering holiday, here we come!
My aunt has had some kind of e-coli infection that went to her lungs and kidneys, causing acute respiratory distress syndrome, which was what kept her in intensive care for so long (three weeks of respiratory support via intubation and tracheostomy). But she also has a lot of long-standing health problems that make her intensely vulnerable to any kind of infection. She's been terribly frail ever since her last serious illness 2 years ago, when she developed some super-rare bacterial infection called nocardia that caused six huge abscesses to develop in her brain, so this was absolutely the last thing she needed. I'm just really glad she seems so much better already, now that she's out of intensive care at last - hopefully she'll continue to recover quickly now. :)
