flower spam

I have about a kajillion photos stashed away that I've taken over the last few months and not got around to doing anything with, so, since I've been baking in the garden for long enough already this fine Sunday afternoon, I shall now give my poor burning skin a bit of a break and present to you a spring flower-spam.
The flower for today is the aquilegia. I have quite a few of these. They only flower for a handful of weeks out of the year, but I just can't resist them anyway, I think because they remind me of my Nana B who always had them in her garden. Plus, the flowers are beautiful while they last.

But I think my favourite of all the aquilegias in my garden this spring was the one called Nora Barlow. Because it was a mutant. It was the most wonderfully mutant plant I think I have ever had. It had three completely different types of flowers growing on the one plant. This is what its flowers were supposed to look like:

And, fair enough, some of the flowers did look like that. But then again, some of them looked like this:

And some of them looked like this!

Three completely different types of flower all growing on a single plant. Like I said: the most crazily mutant plant ever!
Aaaaaand I suspect everyone is now well and truly flowered out, so shall stop there - but I will be back anon with more flowers, so be warned!
