more snow - time for a thaw now, please

Sunrise over a snow-laden landscape

I suppose the thick blanket of snow will at least protect the plants from frost...in theory.

The back garden is having similar issues - I'm especially impressed by the washing line!

My journey to work is a lot prettier in these conditions - to compensate for being so much more slippery!

A lot of trees have lost branches to the sheer weight of snow - you wouldn't want to be walking past when that lot came down!

Yesterday's view from my office window - nice and bleak and hey, where did the road go?

You can barely even make out the museum, all of 100 yards away

I just love the big lumps of ice clinging to the tree, as if someone's been out there with a can of squirty cream or something - if that was a special effect on TV, you'd think they'd done a lousy job!

The garden looked even worse when I got home last night - I love how the chairs are barely even recognisable any more, the arms have just disappeared completely! I can't remember the last time we had such thick snow down here in these coastal parts!

Then I ventured around the side and screeched in horror upon seeing all the shrubs bent double under the weight of frozen snow upon them - cue much bashing of ice with a broom to get it off and allow the plants to stand upright once more before they snapped in half! Although given that I ended up knee-deep, it might have been wise to change out of work clothes first...

Meanwhile, the cats, possibly in protest at the snow, continue to play the part of bookends up on top of the shelf unit

In other news, Macavity the Mystery Cat came and cwtched on my lap last night for the very first time, bless him.
