Just passed a Doctor Who film crew on my way into work this morning - they are filming in Cardiff Castle at the moment.

I'd seen all the trucks parked out back of the castle yesterday morning, and wondered if it might be Who they were filming - I take a short cut through Bute Park, which runs behind the castle, and that's where the crew was parked up, lugging their gear in through the north gate. There was lighting gear, cameras, special effects equipment, the whole shebang. Then this morning, all the trucks were there again - and I also saw Arthur Darvill, who plays Rory, standing with a group of extras (one with pink hair), all looking very cold!

So, we're going to get an episode featuring scenes filmed on location at the castle - my interest is piqued!

I was quite excited by this sighting, since although I've seen film crews around and about plenty of times in the past, I haven't ever got so close to the actual cast before - all of five feet away! Shame Matt Smith and Karen Gillan weren't there too for the complete set *G* Mostly I just see the trucks parked around the city and know that location filming is taking place somewhere nearby, usually indoors out of sight.

I see evidence of film crews fairly often, around and about, but this is the first time I've stumbled over an actual cast member as well. I did see a whole stack of extras outside the museum for a big period shoot there once, though.

Yeah, it certainly brightened my very cold walk to work this morning. Not as informative a sighting as when I passed a rather larger shoot outside the museum that was definitely a 1930s period piece, but hey - cast member trumps extras!

Man, that's so cool...you've finally caught some filming now, and spotted a big actor! (Well besides during the Christmas light thing).

Looking forward to that bit of the show, should be able to recognize that bit now, I'd hope! :D

Oh, I've caught sight of filming before - that 1930s set piece outside the museum being the biggest so far (probably will also be the most recognisable on screen). The equipment trucks are a regular sight around the city, even if the filming itself is tucked away indoors out of sight. This was the first time I've spotted an actual cast member on location, though! It'll be interesting to see if the castle interior is recognisable, though, depending on the nature of the scene.
