A healthy balance between the two is a good thing, I feel. Of course, speaking as someone who can write 30+ pages per episode of Supernatural, I would say that. *G* But I can think of many worse things to be obsessed with than TV shows! I mean, at least by focusing on those we learn to observe, analyse and de-construct, to write clearly and concisely, etc - all highly transferable skills. What do anyone learn by obsessing over, say, shoes and makeup other than how to bankrupt themselves? See? TV is good for us!
