Wish the post office would stop going on strike. They are creating havoc - we've got Very Important funding bids whizzing back and forth to London for signing by trustees next week, and then on to the Big Lottery Fund for submission, and if the post office are on strike at the wrong moment it could lose us a hell of a lot of money. We've had to lay in all kinds of contingency plans.

BBC2's airing of Rome season two is drawing to a close - only one episode left. With two episodes a week, I've managed to miss quite a lot, but since the season is quite saggy in the middle and I've seen it all already I wasn't too worried about that. I'm making more of an effort now we're getting to the end. It was 2.08 and 2.09 this week, which is the point at which a) the show gets really powerful and awesome again, and b) I fall in love with Lucius Vorenus all over again.

Overall, though, I think it's the character dynamics that really tie me to this show. I love all the characters immensely, some more than others, but the intricacy of the relationships between them, developed over two action-packed seasons, that's what makes the endgame so powerful and gripping. Especially the ones that we've seen developing right from the start. Vorenus, Pullo, Mark Antony, Octavian. Those four characters and the dynamics between them are the longest lasting relationships on the show, starting in the very first episode and spinning out from there to the point at which it really hurts, but in a good way, to see where they've all ended up in relation to one another.

I still, every time I see these episodes, long for someone to make Vorena the Elder understand that Vorenus did not kill Niobe. But the problem is that he does hold himself responsible, because he knows that in his fit of rage he did want to kill her, intended to, only for her to kill herself before he had the chance, so now he'll never know if he would have gone through with it. I really miss Niobe in season two. Seeing Vorenus's farewell to Pullo in 2.08, knowing that it is so nearly final, that's painful. Those two have been through so very much together, from their unlikely beginnings in the first episode, to reach this point where Vorenus trusts his old friend enough to entrust his children to Pullo's care.

And I still adore Mark Antony, even when he's falling apart. He's really struggled badly following Caesar's death; he's just so lost. He's an excellent soldier and was an excellent second for Caesar, but isn't a natural political leader.

I could waffle on indefinitely, but I already talked these episodes to death when I saw them for the first time! Roll on the DVD release and a reduced price sale!

And my Dark Angel recaps are continuing, since I've had a little bit of time on my hands.

I've found that I'm a lot wordier in these recaps than I expected - so many characters and events to analyse! Lots of fun. And I threw a few graphics in again, among the text, because the caps are so pretty!
