remembering aberfan
Oct. 21st, 2016 10:24 pmTonight I sat down to watch The Green Hollow, 'a poem in the voice of Aberfan', which aired at 9pm on the BBC to mark the 50th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster, in which 144 people died, including 116 children who'd just come out of morning assembly at Pantglas Junior School on their last day before half term. Pantglas means 'the green hollow', hence the name of the programme, which was beautifully made, a really moving tribute (also a bit of a who's who of the Welsh acting industry). There are some clips from the show on the BBC website here, and I've no doubt the whole thing will go up on iPlayer now. I cried all the way through.
