Okay, so we're now five out of eight episodes into the one-off series, The Honourable Woman, and it's still got me tuning in every week, my only live show currently. Topical in a way the programme makers probably couldn't have anticipated when they began work on the project, the show is a mystery drama centering around the Middle East conflict, specifically people connected to that conflict from afar yet also not really part of it, on the outside looking in, and how the high stakes politics they dabble with impact on their lives as individuals and as family. Everyone here is deeply flawed. Everyone has a distinct point of view, individual aims and motivations and biases, which come into conflict in often unexpected ways. And everyone has secrets. It isn't always easy to watch, but is intriguing, compelling viewing.

I came into it largely for Andrew Buchan, whose work I always love, so did not expect to find myself this upset over Tobias Menzies - I really liked his character!
