family stuff
Jan. 23rd, 2013 11:58 amAll being well, my Aunty Lel should be coming home from hospital today, yay - she's been in since 16th December, was intubated in intensive care for three weeks. She's recovering remarkably quickly now though, thank goodness. Her tracheostomy hole is only slowly healing, though, and the dressing over it expands like a balloon every time she takes a breath, if she doesn't keep her fingers pressed against it - it looks a bit like the way a frog puffs up its throat! Also, she sneezed while I was visiting yesterday and the dressing just exploded, like a balloon popping! But she's getting better and is in good spirits and is going home, so all is good.
In other news, my cousin Sarah's baby daughter Chloe is having surgery today. She's only two-and-a-half months old and was born with a serious heart condition - she's waiting for surgery on that when she's bigger, but then Sarah took her to see the consultant for a routine check up the other day and they found a bowel abnormality and wouldn't let her go home, they wanted to operate immediately. But then they didn't like to operate on the bowel knowing about the heart condition, so the upshot is that she's been transferred to the specialist unit in Bristol and will have the surgery there. Fingers crossed it goes well.
