winner!

So, in work we have just had our kitchen and common room refurbished, and it is all looking shiny and new now. As part of the refurb, we got rid of the enormous Dutch masterpiece that was mounted on the wall (re-homed, I hasten to add - we didn't just bin a 400-year-old masterpiece worth about £20K!) and also got rid of the tired old prints that were also displayed on the walls. To replace them, we held a photographic competition within the Directorate, asking staff to submit their best photographs taken around Cardiff and the South Wales area. The entries were then voted on by the Directorate, with the seven winning entries to be professionally printed and displayed around the walls of the common room - the idea is that the new pictures will be both local and also personal to the Directorate, as well as unique. I entered a few photos, not expecting much - but one of them won! So one of my photos is to be hung on the walls of the common room for posterity, all professionally printed and whatnot. The prints arrived today and look amazing - I'm very impressed by some of the snapshots my colleagues have taken.
